I am researching the family of Edward Storey of Campbell County, Virginia. Edward entered the Revolutionary War as a volunteer from Chesterfield County, Virginia. He served a six week enlistment at Williamsburg in Colonel Patrick Henry's Regiment. He served a second six week enlistment at Portsmouth, in Colonel James' Regiment. He later substituted for Giles Wells, serving ten months of Wells' twelve month enlistment, and again returned to his home in Chesterfield Co. After his marriage to Joicy, they lived "on Winterpock Swamp in the neighborhood of Cat-Tail Creek." He was again drafted into Capt. Archibald Walthall's militia regiment, and stated he served "off and on, a number of short tours until Cornwallis was taken at Yorktown. Colonel Creed Taylor and Major William Duvall commanded in the last named tours. After the war he and wife, Joicy, finally settled in Campbell County, Virginia.
Edward's son, Archibald, moved his family to the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee around 1800. In those scenic hills eight generations have lived, most very modestly, ever faithful to their God and their country. This is their Story.
