Notes for JOHN CARLETON:
The following is from "The Descendants of John Carlton of Cravin and Duplin Counties, North Carolina" by William M Carlton:
John Carlton ( Carleton): From notes of A.T. Outlaw, Register of Deeds, Kenasville, NC and L.A. Beasley of the same town. John Carlton was a Revolutionary War partriot who seved with The 2nd NC Regiment and elsewhere during most or all of the war. He seems to have died in sevice or shortly after the close of the war, as his heirs receiived a grant of land for his sevices, About 1784 his family located in the vicinity of Beasley's Mill, Duplin Co, NC coming from Cravin Co., NC. John Carlton must have been born as early as 1735-37, for his (supposedly) eldest son was born in 1757. His place of bith is not certain but has been claimed to be Chester Co., PA. The name of his wife has not been determeined by any researcher to the best of this writer's knowledge. Six sons are known
