Since this information was given direct by Ellen's mother, this date is almost certainly the correct one, and not that given by Robert Farmer. (Note: the Register entry shows what appears to be the numeral 7 corrected to read 6 for the month.) Also, this source would appear to establish that "Ellen" was the legal name, with "Ella" being the familiar name.
