David was living in Audrain County, Missouri, at the 1850 Federal Census. At the 1860 Census, David and his family were living in Lebanon, LaClede County, Missouri. Living two dwellings from James M. Clinkinbeard (b.1830), it is almost certain that James and David were brothers. Both indicate their father was born in Tennessee. [1860 U.S. Census.]

She married MARMADUKE DODSWORTH, SR about 1836 in (probably) Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio ⁴⁶², son of THOMAS DODSWORTH and MARGARET [----?----]. He was born 1797 in West Witton, Yorkshire, England ⁴⁶³, and died Unknown in (Ohio?).

Notes for ANN CLINKENBEARD:
A genealogical query submitted by one family researcher states: "CLINKENBEARD, COOLEY, WALDEN: Need information on Ann Clinkenbeard, b. Ky. 1809-10, m. Marmaduke Dodsworth ca 1835, d. Cincinnati, O., 1892. Burial record lists parents as John and Mary."[a] At her death, Ann's obituary read: "DIED. DODSWORTH---At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R.J. McMakin, Wednesday, November 16, at 6:30 P.M., Mrs. Ann Dodsworth, relict of the late M. Dodsworth, sr., in her 83d year. Funeral from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M.B. Knowlton, Saturday, November 19, at 2 P.M., No. 17 Hohner st., Cumminsville. 17-3td."[b] If she were 83 in 1892, Ann would have been born in 1809. According to the 1850 U.S. Census, Ann was born in 1811.[c] These sources thus indicate that Ann was born between 1809 and 1811. It is probable that Ann's year of birth was 1810.
As seen, the above-mentioned query added that Ann's "Burial record lists parents as John and Mary."[a] The only John and Mary who were of the right age to have been Ann's parents were John and Mary "Polly" (Carter) Clinkenbeard.
Bess Strode Dodsworth Taylor, granddaughter of Mary Jane Clinkenbeard, who in turn was Ann's cousin and also the wife of Ann's stepson, wrote in 1969: "Ruth Constant, daughter of Capt John Constant married John Strode Jr, & their daughter Sallie Strode, married John Clinkenbeard. Patrick Mooney, Wm Clinkenbeard Sr, John Constant Jr, all lived at Strode's Station near Winchester, Ky. John Strode Jr, & James Strode his brother mar. the great-great-grandmother of the late Mrs George Wallace [i.e., Lurleen Wallace, wife of the late Governor of Alabama], [the late First Lady] Bess Truman's sister-in-law. I have several letters from Mrs Wallace & her line of descent. James Strode = Margaret Foreman; one Strode married a Willson & moved to Maryland. Mrs Wallace was a Miss OTT of Independence, Mo., & she & her husband lived next door to Bess & [President] Harry Truman."[d] The genealogical connection by marriage of President TRUMAN and Governor WALLACE thereby appears also to have links to the Clinkenbeard family.

Marmaduke was baptised on 26 March 1797 at West Witton, Yorkshire, England. The West Witton parish is located in the North Riding of Yorkshire, about 4-1/2 miles west of Middleham, and is within the Diocese of Chester.
Following the death in about 1830 of his first wife, Isabella Sunter, Marmaduke left England and moved to America where he married Ann Clinkenbeard in about 1836.
