THE DESCENDANTS OF [WILLEM?] KLINCKENBERG
Endnotes
1.
Marriage Records of the Dutch Reformed Church, New York, 1639-1800
, quoted in letter of Katie Wilson to J.E. Stockman dated 21 September 1994, with pre-1972 Clinkenbeard genealogy of Arlene Conte of San Jose, California., "19 February 1661 Jan Doske van Tongeren, seldat, en Styntje Klinckenbergs, Van Aken, Van Roelof Swensbug." [Trans.: 19 February 1661: Jan Doske of Tongeren, soldier, and Styntje Klinckenberg, of Aachen, Widow of Roelof Swensburg.] Was this a sister of Willem Klinckenburg (1649-1754), and thus a daughter of this Mr Klinckenberg (b. c.1619)? If Styntje was his daughter, then he too may have been born in, or lived in, Aachen, a town in Prussia near the Dutch border, before moving to Holland.

The KENTUCKY SOCIETY, DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, GENEALOGICAL RECORDS COMMITTEE REPORT, 1973, vol. II, p. 120, states: "Wm Clinkenbeard born 1725 went to spottsylvania Co., Va. Left there 1761." The letter of Maude Clinkenbeard Spencer, Sulphur, Okla., to Norman John Porter, 18 April 1965, stated that three years after Isaac's birth, Isaac's brother William was "born Oct. 11,1761, in Spotsylvania County, Va., 'about a block away from the court house' as my Father heard it from his Father'."

"Interview of Isaac Clinkenbeard (1758-1846) by The Rev'd John D. Shane," The Draper Manuscripts, Series CC, Kentucky Papers, 11:1, Wisconsin State historical Society, Isaac stated he was born on 20 November 1758.
74.
Daughters of the American Revolution: Kentucky Society, Genealogical Records Committee Report, 1973
, (Washington, D.C.: Daughters of the American Revolution Library, n.d.), vol. II, p. 120, This source states of Isaac's father: "Wm Clinkenbeard born 1725 went to Spottsylvania Co., Va. Left there 1761." It is probable that William took his family to Spotsylvania not long after the 1756 Indian massacre at Connolloway Creek and prior to Isaac's birth in 1758.
75.
Letters of Maude Clinkenbeard Spencer, Sulphur, Okla., to Norman John Porter, 9 and 18 April/27 May 1965
, (copies in possession of J.E. Stockman), Maude wrote that Isaac's brother William was "born Oct. 11, 1761, in Spotsylvania County, Va., 'about a block away from the court house' as my Father heard it from his Father." Assuming that William Clinkenbeard Sr moved his family to Spotsylvania, Spotsylvania County, Virginia, soon after the 1756 Indian massacre at Connolloway Creek, Isaac woul appear to have been born in the County Seat of Spotsylvania.
