"The farm of Louisa and her husband, Charles Edmonds, consisted of 240 acres located in the village of McLouth in Union Township, Jefferson County, Kansas. The Edmonds family was a large family, with nineteen members living in McLouth in 1899."[a] Louisa and Charles were the great-grandparents of Janet (Hawley) Shelton, who descends through Louisa's son Albert.[b]
At her death, Louisa was buried in Fowler Cemetery in Round Grove, Jefferson County, Kansas.[c] Louisa's obituary reads: "Louisa Sinclair, daughter of Robert and Eleanor Sinclair, was born at Huntington, Indiana, July 2, 1850 and departed this life near leavenworth April 17, 1924, age 73 years. When she was twenty years of age, her father moved his family to a farm home in Leavenworth County, where she was united in marriage to Charles Edmonds December 31, 1872. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive her. While she and her husband lived near Edmonds Chapel, she and her husband joined the United Brethren church to which profession she was faithful. She was a Christian from early childhood, having first joined the Quaker church and later transferred to the U.B. church while in the Edmonds Chapel vicinity. The body was brought back to the Crawford Cemetery (Leavenworth Co.) for burial."[d]
