A Revolutionary War Veteran (undocumented by Sue Brooks; believe Helen Duschinski has full documentation which she has used for DAR registration.

George and his son George II lived in Lancaster, SC, started branch of Millers there (undocumented)

James McManus supposedly died 1760, he was originally from Anson Co., but with land grants moved into Lancaster, SC and Chester, SC and obtained other grants. Had at least two sons: Hugh and Charles and probably Thomas, Steve and others.

George Miller made his home in Lancaster Co. between Lynches River and Taxahaw.

QUOTED FROM JOHN SMITH NOTES:
He was "black Dutch" from Pennsylvania. Black Dutch is a term believed to signify a person with dark complexion, dark hair and dark eyes as opposed to a person with fair skin, blond hair and light colored eyes. He moved to SC about 1760. Family could possibly have come from Holland or Germanic states by way of Britain. Note: there was a Pennepek Baptist Church in PA.

George was a private in Lt. Col. Samuel Hammond's Reg. SC State Troops. Stub Indents of pay show service from the beginning of the war to 1783. Besides serving with the Revolutionary forces, he furnished and hauled supplies to the troops when they were engaged in the Battle of Hanging Rock, SC.

Records available that show pay Stub Indents numbers and NSDAR (#282733) numbers for George Miller.

George bought 100 acres of land (on both sides of Lynches River, lying in Anson County NC/SC from James McManus and wife Mary (Rallings) on Sept 20, 1760. He paid 15 pounds in Virginia currency. The land lay on both sides of Lynches River in Anson Co. NC which is now Chesterfield and Lancaster Counties, SC. See Book VI, pg. 21 Anson County, NC deeds. (This is all the land we have documentation for; he possibly owned more)

He had a tavern near Hanging Rock, SC (undocumented)

He and his wife are buried on the Lancaster SC side of Lynches River, on his plantation. Plantation was on the old Charleston Road? to the Waxhaws, near Taxahaw, SC. This was indicated on Mills Map of 1825.
