I am researching the following relatives and would love to hear from anyone with information. I have a fair amount of information on some parts of my family and would be happy to share it. My mother's parents: Alfred Ness, 1876, Norway - 1945, Minneapolis, MN. He was an artist. Ellen Marie Susanne Kristine Hansen Eide Ness, 12-23-1889, Faroe Islands - January 1983, Chisago City, MN
My father's parents: Riner Portinga (Jan. 10, 1890, Prinsburg, MN - July 1969, FL) Anna Berghuis Portinga (March 8, 1893, Kandiyohi County, MN - Dec. 12, 1937, Willmar, MN)
My father's line: Riner Portinga (he Americanized the name) Eelke Jennes Poortinga, May 21, 1862 Wanswerd - June 6, 1947, Prinsburg, MN Jenne Renzes Poortinga, 1816-1890 Renze Gerbens Poortinga, 1779-1824 Gerben Wijbes, 1745-1810 Wijbe Tjipkes, approx. 1722-1781 Tjepke Jans, approx. 1696-1700 - 1781 Jan Tjipkes, approx. 1660-1670 - 1715 Tjipke, approx. 1640-1650 -
I have a wonderful Dutch genealogy book, "Genealogie Poortinga" put together by a very distant Dutch cousin in 1976, so I have my paternal grandfather's line back to around 1640. It goes up to children born in 1976. I'd be happy to get copies made - it's about 400 pages long, so I think I'd have to charge, unless I can get it done for free. However, it is in Dutch, and I do not have a translation, though I can pick out a few words.
My paternal grandmother's line is on WFT disk 12 and goes back to 17-- something. I'd be interested in tracing that farther back, if possible. It goes up to at least the 1940's. My great- grandfather's (Henry Berghuis) biological father's name was Weiss (I do not know if this is the correct spelling, however), but he was raised/adopted by his stepfather Peter Berghuis and came to America as a toddler. I'd like to find the Weiss line if possible. They were from Groningen, the Netherlands. I'm also doing researching David Conover von Behren (1889-1958), Edward von Behren, Rachel Harriet Heiss - I have some information (other names in that family - Arnold, Chappell). I am also checking my husband's line - Stone - I can trace it to William Stone de Twist in England in 1540 and Gov. Wm. Stone - colonial gov. of Maryland in 1620, and have been told the line goes to Wm. the Conqueror - I'd love any information on that.
