(Correction Samuel was Mary "Mollie" Margaret Brother, Crockett is Samuel,10's "Son" ..prs The LDS IGI for SC lists Samuel Surrat as the father of Mary or Mollie Surrat, born 3 Mar 1800 in Spartanburg. Jan 28, 1888 (Shows on marker in Friendship South Cemetery.) m. Margarett Mary (Mollie) Surrett; b. March 3, 1799 - d. April 3, 1886. (Shows on marker in Friendship South Cemetery.) Mollie (SURRATT) PENNINGTON was a little woman no larger than a 10 year old child. When she sat in straight chair, her feet would not reach the floor. She had red (rudy) complexion, not fat (trim, slim), blue eves according to Mr. Atwell Livingston her grandson. Her brother (Mary Margaret "Molly" (SURRATT) Pennington) Crocket Surrett, did not like work he was responsible for the tale of the headless man that rode across Wilson Creek with him. Grandpa John Henry Holley said Crocket SURRATT had the largest diamond ring he ever saw. Crocket SURRATT always held the ring so everyone could see it he went to church at Friendship Church is buried out under the cedar tree there(?) sesar(?) Nancy, Sarah Jane."
