John William Stoop, Sr. (son of John Heitmann Stoop and Catherine Cecilia Finnegan) was born 08 May 1907 in Sharon, Mercer Co., PA¹¹¹⁵, and died 01 May 1960 in his 23rd Street home, Chester, Delaware Co., PA¹¹¹⁵. He married (1) Anne Cecilia Cannon on 03 Oct 1929 in St. Robert's R. C. Church, Chester, Delaware Co., PA by Rev. John Graham, daughter of Patrick Joseph Cannon and Ellen Howley. He married (2) Margaret Copple Pyle on 20 Oct 1948 in St. Robert's R. C. Church, Chester, Delaware Co., PA by Fr. Francis W. Kelly, daughter of Grover Cleveland Pyle, Sr. and Bertha Mae Copple.

John W. Stoop, 52, of 35 E. 23rd St., Chester, a Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. employee, died early Sunday morning unexpectedly at his home. Born in Sharon, Pa., May 8, 1907, Mr. Stoop had lived in Chester for 45 years. He had been employed at the Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. in the pipe shop for five years. He previously had his own business, worked for the Ford Motor Co., and the John Hancock Insurance Co. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary C. Pyle; five daughters, Jean, Anne and Judith, at home, Mrs. Gloria Richards of Brookhaven and Mrs. Joan Flood of Village Green; two sons, William at home and John Jr. of Chester, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the John L. Clancy Funeral Home, 9th and Upland Sts., Chester. Solemn high mass will be at St. Roberts Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Immaculate Heart Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
