The Bush family mostly came from Gt.Baddow in Essex, England. I am having difficulty in finding exactly where my two times Gt.Grandfather, Thomas Bush was born in 1818 definitely Essex, but where? His Father's name was Samuel. He married Sarah Flexman also of Gt.Baddow in 1847, their youngest child Henry Thomas married Christina Isabel Porter in 1880 in Farningham, Kent, they had three children, the eldest was Henry Thomas James, he was born in 1882, in Farningham, he mariied Lydia Martha North in 1903 in St. Giles, London, they finally moved to Prittlewell in the early 1900's where they had Lily Elizabeth Bush in 1904, she married Harry Catchpole in 1935, they had two Daughters, May Lillian Catchpole and Barbara Pearl,(that's me)! Lily died 3 weeks after giving birth to Barbara at age 36. Now for "The Catchpoles" starting with Richard came from Thurston born in 1787, his parents were Thomas and Susan Mulley, who married in 1779, they had 9 children, Richard was the 5th, he married Sophia Cocksedge from Hessett in 1813, they settled there and had 11 children, John their eldest was born in 1814 and married Miriam Austen in 1838, they had 8 children in Hessett. Elijah their 6th was born in 1855, he moved to Cambridge and married Mary Mann in Swaffham Prior 1875 then they settled in Ely Cambridge, where their Son Harry was born in 1879 & John born in 1882, Elijah died in 1891 leaving his Wife Mary Elizabeth a widow and the publican of the " Wheel Inn" in Ely, Cambridge along with her 2 Son's then aged 12 & 8, Elijah's younger Brother Frank born in 1862 also married into the Mann family in 1882 by marrying Mary's Sister Ruth. John married Helena Matilda Collins in 1900, in Ely, they had Harry in 1909, who married Lily Elizabeth Bush in 1936,(my Mum & Dad)they had 2 Daughters, May Lillian Catchpole in 1939 and Barbara Pearl (me)Catchpole in 1940, Lily died three weeks after giving birth to me! Something very exciting happened 2 years ago, I found my Father's younger Sister Doris who is still alive. I was adopted at 6 mths old by my Gt.Grand Uncle, (My Grandfather's Brother)William George Bush, sadly he too died before I was a year old, by now my name had changed from Barbara Catchpole to Barbara Bush. Now for the Stride Connection. I met and became engaged to Ken Stride in March 1957, we married in July 1958 and then Ken's family became my family also, hence the Stride Connection. Keep watching this space for more on the Stride connections. Since starting this page, I have been helping Ken edit a book of his memories over the years of his life and family, childhood, Army, and recent memories, we are now adding the photographs to it (when his health permits). We have had contact with a few STRIDE's that were ancestors of his, even found some in New Zealand. Recently we found 2 connections via his ROGERSON line and a possible 3rd. Thank's go to Roger Callen who helped us make contact with William DeBushion Salter Rogerson, who appears to be a 3rd Cousin once removed to Ken, Roger has yet to confirm if in actual fact his connection is from Eliza ROGERSON born c 1824 who was the Daughter of Moses & Sarah, Moses being the eldest Brother of James Rogerson and the Father of Ken's 3 times Gt. Grandmother Matilda. William D.S Rogerson's connection is via her older Brother William. Susan Batcheldor may also have a connection via this line also to be confirmed...watch this space. I have added a ROGERSON tree to view. It is with a sad heart that I have to say that Ken passed away on the 28th of April 2004, he fought a very brave and courageous battle for 9yrs, rest in peace my darling, we will meet again one day. I would like to thank a few people that have I have made contact with over these past few yrs that have given me connections of relations and especially those precious photographs of people I never thought I would have the fortune to ever see. Marion & Charlie Key,(2nd Cousin) Angela & Neil Ward, Nancy Lanni,Ernest Ha
