Notes for Iris Ione Christian: Jefferson City News-Tribune (MO) - March 23, 2005 Deceased Name: Iris Ione Salsman Iris Ione Salsman, age 95, of Eldon, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Ashland on February 27, 1910, a daughter of the late Turner and Minnie Beulah (Haynie) Christian. She was married to Earl Strickland who preceded her in death and later married Draper Salsman who preceded her in death in 1974. She was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church for several years and later became a member of North Shore Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. Those who survive her include: four children, Glen Strickland of Eldon, Larry Strickland of North Kansas City, Lynda Hees of Eldon and Darlene Troncoso of Kansas City; two sisters, Kathryn Myers of Jefferson City and Margaret Calvert of Independence; 19 grandchildren, 33 great grand-children and 11 great-great grandchildren. Two sons, Jerry and Hubert Strickland; two grandchildren, Roger Warren Hees and Michelle Strickland; one sister and five brothers also preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2005 at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Brother John Shifflet will officiate. Interment will be in Rocky Mount Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
