1. RICHARD² WOODCOCK (JOHN¹)¹ was born 8 September 1796 in Coventry Warwickshire, and died 1870 in Jersey. He married (1) MARY KILPACK 20 March 1831 in Stoneleigh, Warwick, England, daughter of JOHN KILPACK and MARY. She was born 26 August 1804 in Neithrop, Oxford, England. He married (2) MARY ANN BONNEY 15 June 1839 in St Marys, Portsea, Hampshire, England. She was born 1817, and died 1890 in Southhampton Hants.

Notes for RICHARD WOODCOCK:
Richard Woodcock, 1796 - 1870 of Coventry and Jersey Island was a 19 century gentleman with various financial interests. A copy of his will now held by a New Zealand descendent states that 100 pounds had to be allowed his widow for mourning.
1st wife Mary nee Kilpack (3 children), 2nd wife Mary Ann - (10 children) died 1890.
Of his numerous children, (Mary, Jane, William) and (Thomas, Alfred, Henry, Frederick, Robert, James, Helen, Elizabeth, Caroline, Lucy).

Thomas, Alfred and Henry came to New Zealand about 1860's whilst Robert, Mary, and Frederick went to Australia, but Frederick came to New Zealand about 1891. Thomas later went to Australia after serving in the Maori Wars.
Alfred, Henry, and Frederick established themselves in the Kaipara area.
Alfred married Emily Chaplin of Ahura.
Henry married Sarah Southgate of Warkworth.
Frederick married Sarah Sharpe in Australia.
Frederick on coming to New Zealand and the "Calabash" bend in the Hoteo river, took up land adjoining Henry's "Glen Tui" farm beside Mount Auckland. Alfred whose large 88 year home was destroyed by fire in the early 1980's has the district of Woodcocks to show for his family's long association with the Warkworth area.
They all led comfortable lives in their adopted country and had a total of 33 children. There were 19 sons.
A hundred years later these three brothers have 500 descendants.
All three brothers lived into their 80's and died in the 1930 - 1945 period.
