* The William Strother - Rachel Green Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

Looking for parents of William Strother b 1794 in GA or NC or VA, married in Jones Co., GA, December 9, 1819, to Rachel Green b 1796 in NC. Also married in Jones Co., GA were Cardis Strother b ca. 1800 to Thomas Bazemore in 1820, Annis Strother b ca. 1805 to William Booth in 1822, Sarah Strother b ca. 1807 to David Pate in 1825, and Mary Strother b ca. 1810 to John B. Williams in 1830.
Plausible evidence collected to date points to a George and Palatier (Palatiah, Palatyre, Polly) Strother as being the parents of William and the four girls. In 1820, a George Strother and family were in the Jones Co., GA Census. I am looking for proof that George and Palatier Strother were the parents of William and the four girls.

Rachel Green was part Cherokee and she and William and the children lived among the whites to escape deportation. In 1843 they moved to western Randolph Co., AL (added to Clay Co. in 1866) where they stayed until their death.

Would also like to exchange information about their children.
