WALTER THOMAS, 83, of Rt. 2, Oneida, passed away July 8, 1981 at the Scott County Hospital.
He was the son of the late William H. Thomas and the late Martha Marcum Thomas, and was also preceded in dcath by his stepmother, Litha Blevins Thomas.He was a member and deacon of the Grave Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Rachel Phillips Thomas of Rt. 2, Oneida; three daughters, Alberta Collier of Dekalp, Ill., Alma Laxton of Oneida, and Audrey Combs of Louisville, Ky. Two sons: Roy Thomas and Ray Thomas, both of Oneida.Two sisters: Arlena West, Frona Watters, both of Oneida; five brothers: Reason, Oscar, Talbert, Arthur, and John Marion, all of Oneida; 24 grandchiklren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted July 10, 1981 at the Grave Hill Baptist Church with Rev.C. J. Thompson and Rev.Gilbert Phillips officiating.Burial in the Marcum-Kidd Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Laxton, Darrel Laxton, Mike Laxton, Wesley Laxton, Gregory Thomas, and Billy Thomas.

Saturday, February 27, 1971 after an illness of four months.She was
the daughter of the late FREDERICK WEST and ROSA KING WEST.A member of
the Winfield Baptist Church.Survivors, three daughters, Mrs. LANTA
SMITH, Mrs. BEULAH MURPHY, Mrs. GENEVEA BRIDGES all of Winfield, Tenn.,
five sons, ARNOLD, DONALD, EARL, and FRED KING all of Winfield, Tenn.,
RONALD and MEVELO KING, both of Pine Knot, Ky., one sister Mrs. FLAW
DUNCAN of Winfield, Tenn., twenty seven grandchildren.Funeral services
were conducted from the Winfield Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday March
2, 1971 with the Rev. CLIFTON GOAD officiating.Burial followed in the
Kingtown Cemetery.West Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

She was also a school teacher in the Scott County School system for many years.She is survived by her husband, RUSSELL GRIFFITH of Winfield; six step-daughters: IRENE PRATE, ALENE MORRIS, PAULINE NEWPORT, BETTY DUNN, UNAGAY LONG and ALTA KAY RAMSEY; two sisters: BEULAH MURPHY and GENEVA BRIDGES, both of Winfield; several special nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.Funeral service was conducted May 21, 1998, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home with Rev.
