Cordelia Cecil, 84, Pine Knot, died May 9 at Scott County Hospital, Oneida. Funeral services were held May 12 at 10 a.m. at Hickman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Wendell Hill. Burial was in Pine Knot Cemetery.
She was born May 10, 1897, in Oneida to the late John Henry Thomas and Minda Foster Thomas. She married Jerome Cecil, September 1916, had lived here for years, was a homemaker and member of Pine Knot United Baptist Church. Her parents, husband, and two sons preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Virgil Cecil, Whitley City, Corene Taylor, Dublin, Va., Irene Martin and Gladys Foster, both of Cincinnati, Agnes Keller, Torrance, Calif., Aileen Cox, Amelia, Ohio, Franklin Cecil, Bethel, Ohio; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Thomas; three half brothers; two sisters, Lizzie Davidson and Rilda Burke, both of Oneida.
Hickman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Lawrence O'Neal, 88, of Route 3, Oneida, passed away at his home Thursday, July 13, 1989.
Born in Scott County on February 3, 1901, he was the son of the late John F. and Arlena Marcum O'Neal. lie was also preceded in death by his wife, Lona Payne O'Neal; sisters: Edna O'Neal, Pearl Cotton and Nora Ross; brother, Frank O'Neal; half-sister, Mae Thomas; half brothers: Cruse Cecil, Jerome Cecil and Edgar Cecil.

He was a self-employed carpenter and a long-time member of the White Pine United Baptist Church, where he served many years as a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include three daughters: Orange Smith of Muncie, Ind.; Jewell O'Neal of Oneida; and Wilda Ramsey of Chattanooga two sons: Ira J. O'Neal of Tullahoma, TN; and Johnnie F. O'Neal of Oneida; one brother, James S. O'Neal and one sister, Mattie Cotton, both of Oneida; and nine grandchildren. Many other relatives survive also.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 15 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Mitchell find Rev. David Walker officiating. Special music was provided by Paul and Beveryl Chitwood. Burial followed in the Smith-Forbis Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Rudalph Colditz, Tobe Phillips, Alvin Krahn, Charles A. Thomas, Ben H. Draughn, Tony Cooper, Carl Kidd and Dr. George Kline.

Jones and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Cotton, Pearl O'Neal-Was born to Arlenda and John F. O'Neal November 3, 1909 deceased this life April 18, 1956. She was married to Oscar Cotton in May 1926. To this union were born five children, three girls, Orangie M. Payne, Lillie M. Rose and Lena Ruth Cotton; two boys, James and Russell Cotton, all of Oneida. She also has seven grandchildren. Sister Cotton joined the Bethalonia Baptist Church July 22, 1932 and lived a faithful Christian life and filled her place at church as long as her health permitted.
She is sadly missed but not forgotten by her many friends and relatives.
But one consolation, we will meet again where sickness nor death never comes no more and we will live together with God and his Angels rejoicing evermore. Funeral services were held in her home church with Rev. General C. Phillips and Rev. James E. Marcum officiating. West Funeral Home in Charge. Her body rests in the Thomas Cemetery on the hill above the home where she spent many happy hours in her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and Christian and was loved by all who knew her. We feel our loss is her eternal gain in glory.

OSCAR COTTON-Age 67 of Oreida, passed away at the Scott County Hospial, Sunday evening, Dec. 22, 1974. He was a member of Pine Creek United Baptist Church. Survivors: wife Leara Cotton; three daughters, Orangie Dangus, Lillie Rose, Ruth Whittenburg, all of Oneida, two sons James L. Cotton, Oneida and Russell Cotton of Whitley City, Ky., two step daughters Margaret Davis and Barbara Posey both of Oneida. Three sisters Sussie Duncan and Nancy Duncan, Mary Wolford all of Oneida, brother Jerry Cotton, Oreida, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Funeral services at Pine Creek United Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Rev. James E. Marcum, Rev. Philip Kayee officiating. Burial in Thomas Cemetery.
