Christian Stutzman: was born Jan. 8, 1758 in Berks County and married Elizabeth Steiner. He died Jan. 3, 1834 at McVeytown. The published information for the death date of Christian as Jan. 3, 1834 is in error. The inventory was taken for Chistian Stutzman November 16, 1825 and was filed December 6, 1825 in Derry Township. Administrators where Abraham and Daniel Stutzman. It is now beleived that the death date for Elizabeth Steiner as listed in DBH of December 6, 1825, was actually the death date for Christian.
5.
Rev. Harvey Hostetler, Decendants of Barbara Hochstedler and Christian Stutzman, (1998 Gospel Book Store), Page 612, DBH 8976. The only evidence that Elizabeth Steiner was the first wife of Christian comes from DBH. Search for offical documents in Pennsylvania to link Elizabeth with Christian has been negative. Evidence has been found that a Christian Stutzman was the brother-in-law of Elizabeth (Miller) Bearinger as early as 1786. This at the very least would show Michael and Abraham were the children of Susanna Miller. There is a Christian Stutzman listed among the "Single Freeman" in the 1782 tax of Bern Township, Berks County. A year later he was listed among the married men. Christian's first child, Elizabeth (possibly named after Susanna's sister) was born 1783. This would suggest that Christian Stutman and Susanna Miller were married 1782/83. Much of this information comes from John Hale Stutesman.
