Obituary of Mrs. A. G. Stymiest [Agnes Margaret (Johnston) Stymiest
"Special to the Times"
Loggieville, NB, 19 April 1921- The community here has been saddened by the death of Mrs. A. G. Stymiest which occurred Saturday, the 15th last. The deceased was a daughter of William Johnston of Tabusintac. She is survived by her husband and four children, Viola, Eunice, Carlyle and Winston.; also her mother Mrs. Lockhart of Chatham; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Forrest of Bathurst; Mrs. Millet Stewart of Neguac; and Mrs. Will Forrest of Chatham, and one brother, James Johnston of Tabusintac.
The deceased had been ill for a period of five years. Much of that time she was unable to leave her room. Although debarred from admission to the outside world, and suffering at times pain and weakness, she continued patient, cheerful and even "rejoicing in tribulation" to the very end. She thought not of what she had lost, but of which she had left- such little things as the changing annual glories of the trees seen through her window, the twittering of the birds in the branches and the sunshine streaming across her bed. Shut out from the delights of the everyday world she rather took it a delight to be shut in with God. Purity, truthfulness and piety were the characteristics of her life, and rarely do we find so many virtues moulded into one character, or few faults mixed in the texture as was hers. Her spirit and cheerfulness never quitted her, nor can an impatient minute be remembered from the first stages of her illness till she faded like the light upon a summer's evening. In short as far as human judgement can decide, she was one of the true angels.............(cannot dechiper)...........
The long and .... illness that the deceased experienced seemed to only soften and sweeten her temperament in the Devine Order for the Christian and Mrs. Stymiest will live in the memory of all who knew her as a lady of extraordinary quietness, gentleness, sweetness and devotion.
She has left to her children a legacy of an untarnished character and a devoted and beautiful life of kindness and grace far...The respect in which she was held in the community was shown by the large ...of all classed that attended her funeral, which was held on Monday at 2:30 PM. The service at the home was in charge of Rev. ? W. Thompson, who paid loving tribute to the memory of the departed. The choir of the Knox Church rendered very touchingly the hymns, "Asleep in Jesus," Peace, Perfect Peace," and "Abide With Me." [The last mentioned was a favourite hymn of the deceased.]
The pall bearers were: Joseph Johnston, ?? O'Hearn, Will Hierlihy, Mell(sic) Dealy, David Kelly, and John Whyte. Interment was made in Pine Grove [Loggieville, NB] Much sympathy is expressed for ??? "There is no death, ....
