The Suermann Family Home Page

I am researching the Suermann family. I have been conducting this investigation into my family history for approximately 20 years. I am trying to compile as complete a history of the Suermann's as I can. This includes all branches of the Suermann family, not just my own direct line.
My research is currently blocked at my Great-great-grandfather, August Suermann. He was born in Germany around 1837. He married Elizabeth Gareholt in Germany and then later immigrated to the United States. It is believed that he immigrated with his wife and an older brother (William?), prior to the U.S. Civil War. He served in the Civil War with the Union Army; Company K, 41st Missouri Infantry. After the war he settled in the St. Louis, Missouri, USA area where he owned a cigar factory. He died in St. Louis on May 20, 1909.

His children include: Charles Alphonius (1868-1945), Fred (1872-1910), John August (1877-1963), Elizabeth (?-?), Ida (?-?), Kate (?-?), Mary (?-?) and Lilly (?-?)

My Great-Grandfather, John August Suermann married Eliza Rosetta Long, born December 13, 1877 and died October 24, 1962. They were married on March 1, 1896.

His children include: George Washington (1896-1959), John Fredrick (1898-1995), Rosalia May (1904-1984), Edwin Henry (1906), Charles Alphonius (1910-1991), Walter Joseph (1913-1990), James Marvel (1915-1982) and Sylvester Arthur (1919).

My Grandfather, Walter Joseph Suermann married Adele Elizabeth Gudermuth, born March 18, 1915. They were married on May 14, 1933.

His children include: Shirley Fern (November 3, 1934), Ronald Herbert (November 16, 1935) and Gerald Albert (September 30, 1941).

My Father, Gerald Albert Suermann married Sandra Jean Ward, born February 24, 1943. They were married on October 17, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri.

His children include: Neil Wayne (May 6, 1964) and Craig Alan (May 18, 1967).

I, Neil Wayne Suermann, married Mary Louise Miller, born May 27, 1964. We were married on December 30, 1982 in Edwardsville, Illinois.

My children include: Jon-Erik (March 21, 1985), Monica Denise (March 15, 1987) and Melissa Eileen (April 27, 1995).

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
