This photo was taken in 1984 of a sign commemorating the first cabin built here in 1839 by Arthur BLOOD. He was the son of Moses and Anna (COLE) BLOOD, and brother of our ancestor, Abel Russell BLOOD. He later sold most of his two sections of land to Abel R., who in turn sold to his in-laws, the LUCAS brothers, when he moved on to IA. This sign had been torn doown by 1996. It was originally placed by the Bicentennial Committee of Boone County and recorded in Ida Library of Belvidere, IL, four miles to the north.The sign was gone a few years later, and the cemetery fence had been removed, also.
