In Welsh sources, he and his son are both called "the treacherous". They say he was the son of Dyfnwal HEN. (Source: "Ancestral Roots...", p. 144).
He established himself in Knapdale, building a fortress on the rock of Dunadd(Source: "The Lion in the North", p. 18).
