The Sullivan/Archambault Family Home Page

I have recently begun researching my family's roots. My father's parents both came from Scotland. His father, Wm. James Sullivan Sr., was born in 1904 in Cowdenbeath, Scotland. He had two brothers, and six half-siblings. He came to the U.S. in 1926 and settled in the northern New Jersey Area. Wm. Sr.'s parents were Cornelias O'Sullivan (b. mid-1800's in Kerry, Ire)and Catherine Canavan(from Ulster, Ire). Cornelias was killed in a mining accident in 1907. Wm. Sr. claimed he could trace our roots back to Donal O'Sullivan Beares.
His mother was Mary Jane Norton. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1904. Her parents were James Norton and Mary Scullion. James was a professional solider, serving with the the British in the Boer War and in WWI. He was discharged in 1918. Mary Jane came to the U.S. with her sister Catherine in 1926.

My mother is an Archambault. Her father, Arther Wilfred Archambault (b 6/29/1903, Haverhill, MA) married her mother, Helen Angela Melody (b. 10/26/1905, Haverhill, MA) on 10/18/1930.
Several of my mother's cousins have complied an extensive tree of the Archambault Ancestors. I am current adding this information to the World Family Tree and I an willing to share any informaion I have.

Helen's parents were Margaret O'Callahan and Michael Melody. They met in Haverhill, MA and were married on 7/3/1895. Michael was born around 1867 in Blackburn, Eng. He came to the U.S. with his father, Owen, and his sisters. They setteled in Pennsylvania around 1885. Michael later moved to Haverhill, where he became a self-employed plasterer and stone masion. He died in 1924. Margaret was born around 1875 in Millstreet, Cork Co, Ire. She came to the U.S. at the age of 14 to live with an uncle.

I intend to try to track down the Melody and O'Callahan branchs. Help would be appreciated.
