I am researching the SUMMERS,THOMPSON, MEADOWS,SMITH, HUGHES,and HOUSE families that moved into Chambers County, Alabama in the 1830's, 1840's and 1850's from South Carolina and Georgia. Also the McCLENDON family that moved from Georgia to Fredonia in Chambers County, Alabama in the 1830's.

I am particularly interested in getting more information on John W. House. He married Nancy Hughes (born 1825) on September 4, 1853 in Chambers County, Alabama. They had four children: Josie, Tom, Mattie (1858-1934), and Steve. John W. House is beleived to have entered the Confederate Army from Harris or Troup County, Georgia and to have been killed in the war and his wife died soon after. The children were taken to Texas by their Uncle Jim Hughes and wife Alice. John W. House with wife and one child is shown in the Chambers County, Alabama 1855 census but I have not been able to locate him before his marriage in 1853 or after the census of 1855.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
