Mr. Rushton was assistant supervisor in the local 12th district for the Michigan conservation department.
Mr. Rushton was born in Central Lake township, residing in Antrim county until five years ago Armistice Day, when he resigned as sheriff of Antrim county during his third term, becoming at first, a free lance conservation officer. For one term during the five that he served most efficiently as sheriff, he was the youngest law enforcing officer of this kind in the United States. Prior to his election he made many friends in the county as a Raleigh salesman.
In 1939 Mr. Rushton became conservation officer of Clare county and was located there for about one and one-half years. Late in 1939 he moved to Atlanta when he was promoted to assistant district supervisor for that territory. In the fall of 1940, approximately two years ago, he was transferred to the Grand Traverse district, serving in the same capacity there, and making his home at Traverse City.
Since leaving here, Mr. Rushton continued to maintain his membership in the Bellaire Masonic Lodge No. 398 and also in the Oddfellow Lodge, attending meetings here quite regularly.
Flags at the state police headquarters and at the local conservation department headquarters at Traverse City were lowered to half mast, Friday morning, in tribute to him.
Funeral services were held at one o,clock Monday afternoon at the Methodist church at Central Lake, followed by Masonic grave rites at the Southern cemetery there, where interment was made.
Surviving are his wife, Greta, and two children of Traverse City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rushton; a twin sister, Mrs. Duane Johnson of Central Lake, and two brothers, Lyle of Grand Rapids and Donald of Central Lake, who left for Fort Custer Monday afternoon, entering into active service in the army."

  Notes for Greta Ensign:
We may have had two fathers, but only one mother,
We never had brother, but always a mother.

We had some special caregivers,
Very carefully chosen.

Her friends were "Friends Forever"
Even though she saw them seldom.

She always looked "Just So",
"Just in case", you know.

She had a warm heart,
If not a real giving one.

She's much happier now,
Than she's been in some time.

She brought us up to be good women,
We look forward to seeing her in heaven.

By her daughters: Shirley, Kathleen and Nancy
