Geoffrey Sumner of Ormskirk, Lancashire, England

I have been researching my family history for 17 years and have traced my ancesters back to the late-1700's. The majority of my ancestors were local to this area, being farmers in Melling and Maghull. However I have distant Sumner relatives in Calgary, Alberta, Canade and Perth, Western Australia. There is also a link with the Gavegan and Whitehead family name in Queensland, Australia at the early 1900's. Any information on that link would be most welcome.
