With many hours of research and thanks to the help of many others, I have traced my Summitt line back to the North Carolina Summits, Johannes Frantz Sammet aka Francis Summit. It is believed he was born in Germany and was certainly of German descent. It is speculated that this North Carolina Francis Summit (1741-1818) entered the Country through Philadelphia with his Father Jacob Sammet on the Ship Beulah on September 10, 1753 and came to NC before 1769. This information has yet to be confirmed and any additional information regarding this would be appreciated.
It is my desire to Catalog every Summit(t) into my Computer to provide a central database for geneology research into the Summitt Family. This information is available to anyone researching the proud name of Summit, Summitt, Sammet.
There is a newsletter published on a quarterly basis concerning the Summitt family: "The Summitt Family Quarterly". For more information visit the web site at: http://www.summittfamilyquarterly.com or you can reach them by e-mail address: psummitt@summittnewmedia.com
