Steves! My Grandfather Jay was a Minister. He died before I was born. Stiuers was a suggestion made for a spelling of Stivers. Stevefrink was another spelling shortened to Steves. Stivers was noted as Stever as well. Robert Stivers is the father of Jerimiah Steves. The name changed to Steves during the Revolutionary War, the soldiers trying to hide from the British. Blacksmiths, and Farmers then from New York by Ox and wagon train moved to Illinois and Wisconsin. They were Carpenters, and Farmers. Onward move to Iowa and Kansas. They became newspaper writers, Printers, Minister, Farmer, and Doctor. Onward move to Colorado and to California. Today family members are all over the United States. I still haven't found where Robert originally came from. Dutch,England,Irland, Scotland or German. Which one? If anyone can help me, please feel free to contact me.
