I am researching the family of Rev. Daniel Thomas Best of Sampson/Duplin counties in NC. Rev. Best was born in June, 1833 and died in June, 1922 in Sampson county. He was married to Sarah Graham. He was a descendant of a slave master and was taught to read and write by his father. When he was old enough, he was sent to Wilmington, NC to attend trade school where he became an excellent carpenter.

Rev. Best became a very prominant minister in the Duplin/Sampson county area and it is stated that at one time, Rev. Best pastored five churches a month. Rev. Best was instrumental in the organization of Browns Missionary Baptist Church where his legacy still lives on in his family, who still plays a vital role in the ongoing mission of the church today.

If you have any information on this family and would like to contribute, please feel free to email me and continue to visit this site on a regular basis because my research is ongoing.
