Luke, Musslewhite, Roberts, and Sumner Families' Home Page

Updated September 5, 2000

We are researching the Luke/Musslewhite and Sumner/Roberts families from Ben Hill and Irwin Counties in South Georgia.
George Washington Luke appears in the HISTORY OF IRWIN COUNTY by Clements as a private in the 49th Georgia Regiment, Co F. G.W. Luke (1836 to 1916) married Sarah Hally Steely and both are buried in Crisp Cemetery, north of Fitzgerald, GA. Unfortunately, we don't know where George originated before he married Sarah Steely, nor his parents or siblings' names.

In addition, we are researching the Roberts family of Irwin County, GA. Presently we are looking for William Roberts, husband of Nancy Tucker. William (father or Elder Charles Roberts) and Nancy married in Laurens Co., GA in 1814, but eventually settled in Irwin Co., GA to rear a large family. We do not have any previous information on him before he married Nancy, his parents, or his siblings' names.

Any information that you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. As we receive data, our plans are to post all of the information to this website. In addition, we are willing to send any data that we collect to you.
