* Cannaday, Gardner, Killen, & Kuhn Families*

Updated May 25, 2009

This is an attempt to follow the lives of four of my ancestors: Adam Gardner, Ferdinand Cannaday, Addison C. Killen, & Frank Julius Kuhn. My family was not very interested in genealogy and knew very little about their parents or grandparents. I, on the other hand, have always wanted to know where I come from! I knew there had to be a reason why I always get goose bumps whenever I hear bagpipes! Why, having never lived in VA, that I love the state especially Williamsburg and the Shenondoah Valley. I have always loved all things Irish & Scottish.

In doing my research I have discovered that I am Scot-Irish and my gggrandfather Cannaday fought for VA in the Civil War. My Cannaday family has been in America since 1642. My Gardner family came from Scotland in 1775 to NY, PA, then OH. I have finally found some information on my Killen (Killin) family. At this time, I believe that my dircet line goes back to John Killen, in Pennsylvania. He was born in 1755, his brother (I think) Patrick was born in 1753. I am proud to say that my Cannaday, Gardner, & Killen ancestors all fought in the Revolutionary War. I am so proud of all of them! I'm still looking for the Kuhn arrival date, they did not arrive until the middle of the 1800s. I am really excited about my discoveries.

My husband's family, Andris Souplis, has been in America since 1682, in the Philadelphia area. We are very proud of our heritage and hope to instill it in our children, who at this time could care less. I hope someday they will pass it on to their children and be proud that all families have rich histories!

As of May 25, 2009 I have found a lot more information on my Kuhn Family. My ancestor Georg Joseph came to America in the mid 1800 from Metzingen, Wuerttemberg. My Kuhn family lived in Wuerttemberg from the 1450 and probably still live there today.
