This is the family page of Paul & Carol (Becotte) Suprenant. I was born Paul Joseph Surprenant but my name was changed to Suprenant about 1950.
Main familys represented here are Surprenant/Landry , Michel dit Becotte/Goebel and Cyr.

The Suprenant family comes from The Longueuil, St. Jean, Iberville & Missisquoi Area of Quebec before coming to the Fall River Ma. USA area about 1880. This family descends from Jean Supernant dit Lafontaine whose son Marin came from France to Montreal New France, about 1690 as a soldier with his military unit.

My Grandmother on my father's side is Helene Martin who married Arthur Surprenant in Fall River in 1898. She is descended from Jacques Martin from France. See photo below of her father and brothers. Since the 1920's, (after my grandmother's death)contact has been lost with the Martin family. If anyone has any information about this family, please E-Mail me.

The Landry family (mother: Edna L. Landry) are of Acadian origin and after the deportation wound up in Kamouraska, Quebec, then moved to Berthier, Quebec and then Woonsocket RI, USA about 1880. This family descends from Rene Landry (younger) who came to Acadia (presently New Brunswick/Nova Scotia) before 1662. Edna's mother was Melina Boucher who is a descemdant of Marin Boucher of France and Julien (Guillen)Dubord a soldier from France and the Carignan Regiment.

My wife Carol Becotte, descends from the Becotte family from Arthabaska Quebec and Lawrence Ma. USA and the Goebel family (mother's side) from Breslau Germany(now called Wroclaw, Poland). The Becotte family descends from the Michel dit Becotte family of old Acadia. The Goebel family descends from Ferdinand Goebel who was born in Breslau in 1842, and his son August Goebel, who married Pauline Mandel (also from Germany), and nothing is known of their ancestors. Any information about them would be appreciated.
