The Atkinson Family Home Page
I am researching the ATKINSON family from Ballina, county Mayo, Ireland. Thomas Atkinson was born in Ballina in August 1802. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine at Edinburgh University in 1825, and joined the British Army in the same year. In 1834, Dr. Thomas Atkinson married Harriet Lydia Williams in Chatham, England. They had several children, including: Thomas George Brutton, Robert Mackay, Augustus Williams Henry, Emily Augusta, Albert Charles Wylde and Charles Perceval. Harriet died in 1857 after the birth of their son Charles. At this time, Dr. Thomas Atkinson was the Deputy Inspector General of Military Hospitals in Hobart, Australia. He returned to Ballina, and lived there until his death in 1875. I would appreciate any further information, and I am also willing to share the information that I have. |
