We are continually researching the Clough/Clow family on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware. We published our first 20 years of research in a book called "Clough's Chance", following the lines of the 3 sons of Nathaniel and Susannah Clough (ca. early 1700's). We have done extensive research on sons, John and James but the line of the third son, Cheney, has been very elusive. Cheney Clow was a notorious Tory who lived on a farm on the Maryland/Delaware border during the American Revolution. He was hanged in 1788 for murder and, as the stories go, his family was so outraged they moved from the area. We believe they might have gone to Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. Any information that might help identify Cheney's descendants would be greatly appreciated.
Any information on Nathaniel Clough's ancestors would also be appreciated. According to available records, he died in 1748 in Maryland but we have no birth records.
