Written by Dore' Sutton, granddaughter

I remember a summer visit to grandpa house in Warren,Oregon. My family had driven up from Costa Mesa, California. While there, my sisters and I explored the forest behind grandpa house and caught cradads in the creek that flowed near the house. And a very special memory was of the old horse harnesses he had in his work barn. He told me that they had belonged to his father, Harvey W. Sutton. I thought that was very interesting, but could not imagine anything that old. Those were probably the very harnesses that were used on the trip west from Missouri, or possibly used on the moves from Oregon to Idaho and back. If I only could go back in time and listen to the stories now.

CURRENT FATAL TO BOAT BUILDER

Raymond Howard Sutton, 30, 3644 N. Winchell street, was electrocuted Saturday night while working with a welder's torch in his brother's boatyard at 5705 N.E. Alton street.
He was pronounced dead of arrival at Emanuel hospital after resuscitation efforts by Deputy Sheriffs Don Wright and Walter Jahn failed to revive him.
Officers said Sutton was welding some pipe to a steel hull and came in contact with live current through faulty welding equipment. The victim father, William A. Sutton, also 3644 N. Winchell street, was at work in another compartment of the boat at the time.

I never met my Uncle Raymond as he was killed 2 months before I was born. But I have been told that he really loved my sister, being that he had no children of his own. From what I have been told, he was also a talented artist.
