Julia Caroline Ashbarry (b. August 27, 1836, d. March 20, 1925)
Julia Caroline Ashbarry1 was born August 27, 1836 in Holme Lacy, Herefordshire, England2, and died March 20, 1925 in 4 Lench's Trust, Highgate, Birmingham, England2. She married (2) Donald Sutherland on May 4, 1867 in Mount Zion Chapel, Graham Street, Birmingham, England2, son of George Sutherland and Margaret Sutherland.
Notes for Julia Caroline Ashbarry: Julia's father was supposed to have been the son of a Lord Forrester (or Ashbarry) and a French actress; this was supposed to have been a morganatic marriage, but could not have been so because the term only applies to persons of royal blood. Julia had an illegitimate son, William Haynes Ashbarry, on the 5 October 1857. He was said to have been the son of a colonel and was born at 72 Nelson Street, Birmingham, England. Julia's husband Donald apparently accepted him because the 1881 census states that he (William) was living at 1 Wynn Terrace, Wynn Street, Birmingham, England, was aged 23, a mason and was a stepson. No trace of a Lord Forrester or Ashbarry has yet been found...there was, however, a family living in Shropshire (next county north of Herefordshire) who were ennobled in about 1840; four years after Julia's birth!
