6. WILSON NESBITT3 HURT (JOSEPH2, UNKNOWN1) was born February 18, 1812 in Spartanburg South Carolina, and died August 10, 1868 in Kilmichael, Montgomery County, Mississippi. He married (1) ELIZABETH MIRIAM BOMAR, daughter of REV. BOMAR and ELIZABETH HIGH. He married (2) ELIZABETH MIRIAM BOMAR October 15, 1835 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, daughter of THOMAS BOMAR and ELIZABETH HIGH.

ILSON NESBITT HURT:
"Married on Thur. the 15th inst. by Rev. John G. Landrum, Mr. Wilson N. Hunt to Miss Elizabeth Miriam daughter of rev. Thoms Bomar, disceased, all of Spartanburg." (24 Oct. 1835 Greenville Mountaineer.) This notice recorded in "Marriage and Death Notices from Up-Country of S. C. 1826-1863. "Newspaper Notices" pp 32-33, publ. Apr. 5, 1983. Brent H. Holcomb. Hurt was spelled "Hunt" which was a common misspelling.

Wilson N. Hurt was Justice of the Spartanburg South Carolina District in 1837before removing to Mississippi.

During the 1840's, Wilson N. HURT apparently studied medicine probably while living in Forsythe, GA or in Atlanta. By the time Wilson and Elizabeth left Spartanburg heading west., they had three children, Joseph Thomas, William Henry, and Wilmouth Ann. The latter two were twins born in 1839. While in Georgia, they had two more children, Wilson Alexander and Adella Minerva.

In the 1850 census of Carroll Co., MS, page 203, line 10+, dwelling 119. Six children were listed with the youngest being Edward (Ranson Edward).

In the 1860 census, the family were in Kilmichael, Choctaw Co., MS. Many of the family are buried in a well kept, country cemetery (Pleasant Grove Cemetery is about 3 miles North of Kilmichael, off Mayfield Rd.) In this census, A 14 year old female named Sallie A. being born in Alabama was listed with the family, but she was not listed in any other census.

William Henry Hurt was a trooper (Private) with the B company, Tenth Regiment of the Texas Calvary during the War Between the States. He was honorably discharged on 25 June 1862 for medical reasons (chronic diarrhea). He had enlisted on 25 Sept. 1861. After he returned home, his health shattered, he was attended by his sweetheart India Bond. As he lay dying, he asked India to sing for him. She stood at the foot of his bed and, though grief stricken, continued to sing hymns until he passed away. (information provided by William C. Hurt of Waynesboro, Mississippi)
