My Family

I am researching my family, as there are only 4 of us left with this name. Several generations ago, the Svogars came to the US from Austria, where they immigrated to after leaving their Eastern European homeland. At that time, our name was Svogor. When Josep Svogor came to the States, it was determined that the surname was too confusing to pronounce. As was common practice at the time, it was changed slightly to accomodate westerners. The new name, Svogar, was used from that point on.
