I am researching the Burgess, Swallows, Swallow, Hale families of Cumberland County, Tennessee.
I have a tremendous amount of genealogic info on the Burgess family descending from William Burgess (1670? - 1712) of Richmond (later King George) County, Virginia. His children were Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah and Edward, all born between 1693 and 1699.

I have just started researching the Swallows or Swallow and Hale families of Cumberland County, TN. The connection between the Swallows and the Burgess family is the marriage between Virgil Samuel Swallows and Amy Dell Burgess (Owen Washington 7, Joseph Daniel 6, King Hiram 5, Thomas 4, Reuben 3, Edward 2, and William 1). Virgil and Amy's only child, Oliver Charles, was adopted from Amy's brother, Lavern (Joseph) Burgess. Virgil Swallows was one of 8 siblings. It is rumored that Virgil's oldest sister, Mary, changed the spelling of the family name from Swallow to Swallows during the early 1900's. Most of the family moved to the Orlando, FL area during the 1930's.

Virgil's mother was a Hale and I contacted several Hale family members who have promised to send info. I will add that to the tree as soon as I receive it. I will publish the tree on this site near the end of 1998.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. Email me if you have any additional info. Thanks.
