The "Swaney" tree dates to 16th century Germany. We have traced it back to "Melchior Schwann", 1550, Wuerttemberg. There are several spellings, but the primary one appears to be "Schwan".

My great grandfather immigrated in the 1840's, settling in Southern Indiana. Our family has had a presence in Troy(Perry Cty)since the 1840's.
