Joseph Popelka and Teresia (Kerner)came from Bohemia and arrived in Chicago sometime in the mid 1870's. Joseph's mother, Barbora and his daughter Blanka also were with them. We do not know where they came from in Bohemia. Joseph worked as a shoemaker in Chicago. Jacob Koenig came from Germany,sometime between 1868 and 1871 he married Josephine Majka (there is a question about the spelling of Majka)here in Cook County,Illinois. Josephine's parents were Joseph Majka and Anna Zika. They were from Bernice, Czehoslovakia. Josephine arriived in this country around 1870 or 1871. Both famlies settled in Chicago. |
