Researching surnames: NELSON, LAND, BRINSON, BELL, of Bath, Carteret & Craven Counties, NC - COUNCIL, PAINTER, MARTIN, ALLISON, KILGORE, GLENN of PA. SCURR, THOROWGOOD, KEELING, WHITEHURST, BRINSON, CASON of Princess Anne Co. VA. SCURR, APPLETON,of Yorkshire, England - COOPER, PEARSON, of Nottinghamshire, Eng. BAXTER, FEREBEE, WILLIAMS, LOCKETT, and more in NC, VA, MD, PA, Del, MS.

Immigrant John Nelson, Jr. came to Bath, NC 1700. In 1702 he returned to Kent Co. MD where he picked up his father John Nelson, Sr. and sisters and returned to NC. In Oct 2002 the Nelson "Cousins" are planning a NELSON TRICENTENNIAL to meet and celebrate this immigration into NC.This will be a Once-in-a-Lifetime-Event.

Francis LAND came into Lower Norfolk County, Lynnhaven Parish, VA 1630. Some of our Land's migrated into Currituck Co. NC by 1800 and by the mid 1830's some were in MS and back to NC by 1861.

These lines merge when my grandparents Benjamin Harrison Nelson, Sr. and Eva Virginia Land marry in 1910. From these two lines come many interesting moments of research of history, names and places. These are my maternal lines.

My Paternal lines are in PA with the Council's in Philadelphia, removing to Altoona, Blair Co. PA. Then the Martin's from Wigtownshire, Scotland to Northumberland, PA and then into York Co. pre 1774 and then into Altoona, Blair Co. where the lines merge. My great-great grandparents William Cooper and wife Harriet Pearson he from Hyson Green, Nottinghamshire, Eng and his wife from Basford, Nottinghamshire, Eng are buried in Lebanon, PA.

It is hoped thru this others will find information they can use and it will bring in more new "cousins" who can further information that I have not yet found. Within the years of research there is 1 needle-in-the-haystack and 1 Brick Wall. It is hoped that out there somewhere is another researcher who may have found what I have not been able to.

Simon Speight Brinson - is the needle - where are his records?
William Buxton Williams is the brick wall - Who were his parents and sibblings? Both of NC. Any help here greatly appreciated and I am willing to share any information that I have.

Descendents of John Swain below are my husband's ancestral lines.
If you have information he does not have he would appreciate hearing from you.

Many NELSON cousins researching the same lines have come together and formed the CAPT. JOHN NELSON DESCENDENTS Assoc. Our meetings are monthly. If you descend from any of these lines, please join us. You can E-mail me for more information.
We are planning Oct 25-27th 2002 a NELSON TRICENTENNIAL - at the MOREHEAD CIVIC CENTER, MOREHEAD CITY, NC.

Thank you for visiting and we hope you'll come back again.
