This tree is centered around my paternal grandfather, Foster C. Swaine, who brought his family to Nyack, New York in the 1920's from Nova Scotia, Canada. It was he who changed the spelling to Swain. Most of the research was done by my Aunt Ruth Swain Parker with the Shelburne County Genealogical Society in Nova Scotia. This work establishes us as Mayflower descendants through two families. Earlier research was done by my Aunt Alleine Swain in Nantucket. Also included is work on my mother's side on the Smith, Stevens, and Adams families by Mary Tressa Smith in 1935 when she joined the DAR. My wife's family, Graham, is also included. That research was done by her nephew, Peter McDonald, in Canada. All questions, comments, corrections, contributions, are eagerly welcomed. |
