Holden George Evans,born 1844 in North Carolina. He enlisted in Co A,5th Battalion,NC Confederate Cavalry 5/14/1862 in Madison Co, showing res. in Buncombe County,NC. Trans. to Co.I,65th Regiment. Captured in KY 7/31-8/1/1863.Confined at Camp Chase,OH until transf. to Ft.Delaware 2/29/1864. Released 5/11/1865. POW records show home as Piney Woods,TN.(Loudon,Co.).Married Mary "Molly" Reynolds, had 9 children, 8 living as of 1/1900. Was in Marion County, AL in 1880, in Loudon County, TN in 1890. Div. 1892-1897 and returned to NC where he died. Molly mar.John C. Clark 2/4/1897 and moved to AL after 1900. Of 9 children, 8 were living in 1900: Jacob Lee/Bessie Ida Watts, was in Loudon County,TN, John Arastus/Susie Shields/Sarah, in McMinn Co.,TN, Maude McLissia/Parks/Breeden in Monroe Co,TN, Bud/Sarah in NC, George Washington/Mattie ?Dardes, in CA.
