Descendants of John Swadner/Schwedner

Updated September 5, 2000

Jonanne Martin Schwedner, age 51, arrived Oct. 16, 1738, aboard the HMS Queen Elizabeth at the Port of Philadelphia with a seven year old son and a wife, no name given. Sixteen years later, the son, John Schwedner, later changing the spelling to Swadner settled in Liberytown, Maryland. To his wife, Elizabeth were born five sons, Henry, John, Adam, Andrew, and Martin. From these five men, all christened with the surname of Schwedner/Schwedtner later changed the spelling of their names to Swadner, Swadener, Sweadner, Swaidner and probably had offspring who retained the orginal spelling of Schwedner/Schwedtner.
To those who bear on of these surnames, there is a direct lineage to this one individual who arrived on the shores of this country and live on even today
