The Marek Niemiec family first appears in the 1910 U.S. Census for the city of Chicago, IL. According to the 1910 and 1920 census he came to the U.S. in 1989 or 1899 but he actually arrived on 30 July 1900. According to his petition for naturalization his home was originally Pilzno Poland which was part of Galicia Poland and he arrived in the U.S. July 1900. He married Anna Nowak July 1907. He died in 1921 at the age of 40 leaving his wife Anna and six children. The six children were Mary Ann, Joseph, Sophie, John, Edward, and Lillian. All of these children are now deceased. Marek and Anna Niemiec were my grandparents. Anna (Nowak)Niemiec remarried to a Josef Persak and had another child - Geraldine. At this time I have passenger manifests for Marek Niemiec and Anna Nowak but am trying to verify that these manifests are indeed the ones on which they are listed. |
