I am researching my branch of the SWAN family, and have traced them back to about 1600 to Ashdon in Essex, England. THOMAS was born around 1600 but I have not yet found his marriage records, although I know he wed about 1626 and baptized five children. Thomas 26 March 1627, John 6 April 28, Robert 19 January 1629/30, Mary 16 October 1632 and William 29 January 1633/34.Any help would be appreciated. I am willing to share any information I may have. Goodnews. I have now traced the family just over the county border to Ickleton in Cambridgeshire. The earlist family member I have found is Robert Swan a weaver by trade. born c 1530 and married to Isabel Coe in 1556. Robert's father has now been found. Born C 1480 and died September 1540. His name was Stephen and was a successful yeoman farmer. Both Stephen and Robert left wills which have added much information to the tree. They were living in the Manor house of Hovels in Ickleton, Cambridgeshire, UK. "Hovels" is still in existance today and is the oldest surviving building in Ickleton.
