RECOLLECTIONS BY AARON V. SWEENEY given to Aaron C. Sweeney

John used to bring himself and his brother Richard fishing in the McGinnis creek in the summer time even though everyone knew there wasn't any fish in that river in the summer time.

When Aaron was 5 years old he asked for a cup of coffee. John told the women to give him some, which he liked, and has been drinking since.

It was John who dropped the Mc off of McSweeney. Mc actually means "son of". His tombstone, however, had the Mc on it. He thought it was too long.

RECOLLECTIONS BY VIOLET SWEENEY, March 23, 2004

Her Grandmother Elizabeth would often talk about her daughter Mary and would cry when she spoke about her. She was quite distraught about losing her first born. Mary was born in a log cabin across the road from their homestead. They lived there first. She would often go across the street and look for Mary in the log cabin after she had died. One day someone told Elizabeth that we are not suppose to know what happens to people after they die. She then got over the grief, somewhat.
