| David's Great-Uncle William "Bill" Sweet & Trella Hall did much research and joined forces. A complete microfilm of Sweet Records consisting of over 20,000 on four reels, and also several file cabinets of 3 x 5 index cards of the descendants of John(1) and Mary Sweet of Salem, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, plus over 1,000 cards of the Sweet family of Attleboro, MA. Most of the records are documentary records from Town and State Vital Records, cemeteries, deeds, and wills of Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Canada, Nova Scotia and miscellaneous United States. The films are in the vault of the Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, and also a copy of the four reels, plus several files of index cards are at the Rhode Island Historical Society Library in Providence, RI. Also included in this genealogy, are records of the Sweet family in Salem, MA and Rhode Island provided by Florence Sweet Wetzel, of Utica, NY. Her records are in the library in Albany, NY, and we all owe her a lot for her work on the Sweet family. A big thanks also goes to Trella M. Hall, of Larned, KS for collecting and filing Florence's collection after her death. Trella's massive records are to be left in the care of the Rhode Island Historical Society in Providence, RI where most of this Sweet genealogy is recorded. I am also researching Smith-Reading-Shelmon-Terry from LaPorte, Indiana; Magnetic Springs, Ohio; Delaware, Union, & Juanita Counties, PA. Working on Hinant family of Kentucky & Indiana, Doane family of RI & Mass., as well as the Boragine & Yemma of RI & Italy. |
