* Swinsons of North Carolina*

~ ENJOY AND PLEASE SIGN MY GUESTBOOK IN "RELATED LINKS" BELOW ~

Family, Friends and Visitors,

Welcome to "The Swinsons of North Carolina"! I hope you enjoy the information I've compiled over the years and find it useful and informative. My Swinson information traces the migration of Richard Swinson from Virginia ca. 1675 to Chowan Precinct, where he died in 1716. From there, the information contained here follows the descendants of Richard as they establish families in numerous counties in southeastern North Carolina, such as Tyrrell, Pitt, Martin, Beaufort, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Cumberland, Pender, and Greene counties.

For those of you who have regularly visited this site over the years, I apologize for the very long period of inactivity. My last update on the page was September 2006. Since then, the military continued to keep me busy with deployments to Germany (2007), Qatar (2008-2009) and Afghanistan (2010). This past January, I retired from the Air Force and have been settling into a new job and a new home my wife and I purchased in Sanford, NC.

I'm eager to return to my research and have reset my sights on publishing the history of the Onslow County Swinsons. I believe such a book would serve as a useful companion to "Three Centuries of Swinson Kin", a book published by the Swinson Family Association in 2007 to document the Swinson families of Duplin County, NC.

I look forward to comparing notes, sharing information, and discovering our family history. Please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address above.

As you peruse the information on this page, I only ask that you be mindful of the following:

1) The information here is FREE to anyone who wants it.
2) DO NOT assume everything posted here is true and accurate. We all try, but mistakes creep in...please do your own research to verify.
3) DO give credit where appropriate and cite your sources...don't claim credit for the work of others.
4) DO contact me if you find errors or omissions in the information on this page.
5) DO have fun researching our ancestors and spread the word!
