Military Service of Pvt. Hosea Mashburn
Unit: Co. I, 66th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry (State Troops)
-- This Company was formerly Co. F, 8th Battalion North Carolina Partisan Rangers. The 66th Regiment North Carolina Infantry (State Troops) was formed by the consolidation of the 8th Battalion North Carolina Partisan Rangers and the 13th Battalion North Carolina Infantry in accordance with S. O. No. 234, A & I. G. O., dated October 2, 1863. Company D, 8th Battalion North Carolina Partisan Rangers, which was assigned to the regiment as Company L, apparently never served as such but subsequently became Captain W. R. Bass' Unattached Company, North Carolina Infantry.
Note: It's undetermined if Hosea Marshburn ever served in the 8th Battalion NC Partisan Rangers or 13th Battalion NC Infantry. However, p. 53 of "NC Militia Records", on file in the New Hanover County Library, reveal that a Hosea Marshburn held the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and was assigned to the 21st NC Militia, 5th Brigade, lower southwest district of Onslow County.
